Research Into Album Cover

For our Coursework task we have decided to re create Lady Gagas song beautiful dirty rich. For part of this we are going to make the album cover for our band. We have decided that we are going to stick to the conventions that Lady Gaga uses. Although we are going to try and keep to the same themes and conventions as Lady Gaga, we are also going to research into other girl bands such as The Pussycat Dolls, The Saturdays and Girlicious. This is because Lady Gaga is a solo artist and we are going to be a Girl Band, therefore we will also take ideas and conventions from Girl Bands so that we full fill our coursework task to the best of our ability.








This is the first ever album cover of Lady Gaga. We are going to try and take the uniqueness of the colours and the facepaint and re create them with our album cover.


The main focus of the album cover is her. The whole album cover is taken up by an image of her face. We are going to also use a big picture of the 4 of us, our Girl Band. It was important to use a big image so that her fans and the public get to see her being a new artist. We feel that having researched Girl Bands first album cover, the main focus is always a sole image of the band.








This is what we are going to try and create.


Lady Gaga has used capital letters for the writing she has included on her album cover, this is so that it stands out. Also the writing colour and the underline colour is the samas the facepaint used. This makes the album cover look professional. We are going to stick


to one theme and a maximun of 2 colours, this is so that the themes and colours are consistent and the album cover will look professional and of a high standard.




This is more the type and style of album cover that we are going to try and make.



This is because we are a Girl Band.
Also in this album cover they are all dressed in all black, this is so that the theme
is consistent. We like the fact that all of the girls are dressed in the same colour but in different types of clothing.


We have decided that we are going to all wear the same colour for the image on our album cover. This is so that we all look similar and we are going to try and emulate the image that the Pussycat Dolls have used here.

The image that Lady Gaga uses here is very in your face, it is the main attraction of the album cover and this is what we would like ours to be like. We are going to try and achieve the same striking effect that Lady Gaga goes for with our picture whilst also trying to make us more like a girl band than a solo artist. From this images you can see that Lady Gaga has stuck to two main colours which are blue and white this is so that the album cover doesnt look too busy and this makes the features that you want to stand out, stand out.

The Saturdays is a band that we are going to be looking at and we are going to try and emulate some of their styles into our own music video and album cover. This is because the band represent Girl Power and Friendship and this is what we are trying to go for, we think that this will be easilyachieveable as there are 4 members of us. Also we are all very close friends, this will make it a lot easier to try and achieve the look we would like to go for. The outfits that the saturdays are wearing are noticably all black, this makes it so that the image does not look messy and they all stand out, also it shows that they are all equal no memeber looks better than the other and by wearing all the same this shows that they are all on the same level no members outfit is better than the others, this is what we would like to go for so that we could show unity through our band.

Whilst we are trying to emulate the conventions of the saturdays and other girlbands, we also wantto try and stick to the conventions of Lady Gaga as this is the atrist that we initially chose. By doing this we would like to keep the uniqueness that she has in her videos and her album covers. To try and create the unique style and carry it into out own album cover, we also researched Madonna and Kylie Minogue, this is because they sililar to Lady Gaga has unique styles that hopefully we will be able to re create.
